Facebook Police: Site to Crack Down on Suspicious Likes

Facebook

Facebook [FB  18.058    -1.0305  (-5.4%)   ] is cracking down on fake page Likes, and plans to hit the delete button on Likes that violate the company's policy, the social network stated on its website Friday.
"...We have recently increased our automated efforts to remove Likes on Pages that may have been gained by means that violate our Facebook Terms," the company stated on its Facebook page. "These newly improved automated efforts will remove those Likes gained by malware, compromised accounts, deceived users, or purchased bulk Likes."
The social network emphasized in its statement that the company has never allowed the purchase of Facebook Likes. The company added it wants "authentic users" to be able to connect to brand pages.
However, earlier this year it was disclosed in a Security and Exchange Commission filing that about 83 million Facebook accounts were fake.  (Read More: Facebook: About 83 Million Accounts Are Fake)
Facebook said it has always had protections in place to ensure page Likes are real. But the new improvements are "specifically configured to identify and take action against suspicious Likes."
